About the Farm

Background

Round the Bend Farm (RTB) was founded in 2007 by Michael & Margie Baldwin and Leslie & Rutgers Barclay, who invested in the land and hired farmers to build up the property. Co-Founders Geoff Kinder and Desa Van Laarhoven joined early on, inspired by restorative living models. In 2013, Ellen & Duncan McFarland's support helped transition the farm to a non-profit. RTB received its non-profit status in 2015 and completed its Learning Center in 2017. The farm expanded in 2017 by acquiring Ocean View Farm, and in 2020, it launched Project Manifest Love to support vulnerable families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Practices

Geoff Kinder maintains the land by practicing low-impact farming, sustainable living, and whole-systems thinking. The farm focuses on permaculture, animal production, small-scale grazing, and educational workshops. The interconnectedness of farming practices, ecology, and human health is central to their philosophy.

The Rest

The farm offers field trips and private tours by request and is open to the public on the third Saturday of each month from 10 am to 5 pm. The Learning Center serves as a hub for educational programming and community engagement. RTB's efforts include a collaboration with local organizations to distribute food shares to families in need.
