About the Farm
Background
Opened in 1908, the farm has been a staple in the community, offering seasonal favorites like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, peaches, and pumpkins. In 2018, Sandi Rose sold 50 acres to the Town of Glastonbury for Open Space, ensuring the land remained green and growing. The Gondek Family took over in 2022, continuing the legacy of the Rose family while making the farm pesticide and round-up free.
Practices
The farm is now pesticide and round-up free. They focus on protecting farmland with community and town support, and aim to create a cooperative where local farmers can collaborate and thrive. River Ridge Farm, a no-till fruit, veggie, and cut flower farm, manages berry production and hosts pick-your-own events, aligning with the Gondek Family's organic practices.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of activities including fall hay rides and seasonal events. They have partnered with 7 Acres Farm, known for their dahlias, cut flowers, and farm-fresh chicken and duck eggs. The farm also features a farm stand with homemade pies, jams, and regional goods, and hosts a popular 'Breakfast-With-A-View' event. The Gondek Family is dedicated to farm education and fostering an inclusive community.
