About the Farm
Background
Located in the rolling hills of West Tennessee near Selmer, this farm has been cultivating its land for over 12 years. Known for its commitment to growing and harvesting produce from real soil 52 weeks a year, the farm has developed a reputation for its nutrient-dense offerings. The farm's journey has been marked by a continuous quest for knowledge, trialing different methods, and creating custom systems of non-conventional organic farming.
Practices
The farm employs a human-powered, no-till approach to agriculture, emphasizing the importance of soil health. Techniques such as using high tunnels to trap natural light and warmth, applying generous amounts of compost, and regular soil testing to maintain healthy mineral content are central to their practice. Cover crops are used where possible, and no petroleum-based insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or other synthetic chemicals are applied. The farm's philosophy is to leave the earth better than they found it, focusing on the interconnectedness of soil health, plant health, and human health.
The Rest
Visitors can find the farm's produce at the Franklin Farmers Market every Saturday or order online for pickup at various locations including the Memphis Agricenter, Grubbs Grocery in Jackson, or their 24/7 Farm Store. The farm prides itself on transparency, inviting customers to inspect their supply and tool sheds. Passionate about enabling others to grow their own food, the farm is dedicated to sharing its bounty and knowledge with the community.
