About the Farm

Background

Located in the vast expanse of the far north, Roots & Wings Farmstead cultivates a bountiful harvest of nourishing food, vibrant flowers, and creative endeavors. Nicole Pruce, a farmer, artist, and writer, along with Tyler Pruce, a builder and mechanic, have established a unique farmstead in Interior Alaska. Their days are spent tending to the land, coaxing life from the frozen earth, and nurturing their spirits with art inspired by the light and color of the north. The farm is known for its deep respect for the land and animals, producing the healthiest, cleanest, and most nutritional meat possible.

Practices

The farm raises pastured poultry, eggs, pork, and lamb, ensuring the well-being of their animals is the number one priority. They employ methods that honor the beauty and bounty of the northern landscape, integrating art and agriculture in a harmonious blend. Tyler Pruce’s expertise in building and maintaining off-grid systems, including battery and solar arrays, supports the farm's operations. The farm's philosophy is deeply rooted in stewardship of the land, with every seed sown and every brushstroke painted reflecting their commitment to the environment.

The Rest

Roots & Wings Farmstead offers a seasonal CSA of their poultry products and has a farm stand for direct access to their food. Nicole Pruce’s artistic creations capture the essence of the Alaskan wilderness, bringing a piece of the northern landscape to life. Daisy, the herding dog, adds to the farm's charm with her boundless energy and playful nature, embodying the spirit of love and companionship that defines life at the farmstead.
