About the Farm
Background
Rock Run Stock Farm, established in 1985, and Higgins Farm, established in the 1950s, have combined to create a multi-generational family farm now operated by the fourth generation. The cattle operation began with the original Higgins Farm, producing cattle that are now 6-7 generations farm bred and raised.
Practices
The farm focuses on raising commercial cattle, hogs, and lambs, ensuring that their animals are bred and raised on the farm for multiple generations. Their freezer meats are state inspected and labeled, ensuring quality and safety for consumers.
The Rest
The farm provides feeder and fair calves, pigs, and lambs for 4-H and FFA programs, as well as freezer beef, pork, and lamb sold off the farm and through the Pleasants Area Farmers Market in St. Marys, WV. They also plan to start raising meat goats.
