About the Farm

Background

Located near Parkersburg, WV on the Ohio border, Ridge View Farm has been operated since 1992 by Jim and Suzanne Dietz, retired chemists who believe in a natural organic approach to farming. The farm is recognized as a WV Grasslands Demonstration Farm and has hosted numerous grazing events and field days.

Practices

The farm employs management intensive grazing practices and operates under both a soil conservation plan and a forest stewardship plan. The cattle, Murray Grey breed from Australia, are pasture-raised, eating forage and farm-produced hay without growth hormones or processed feeds. These practices ensure the animals provide high-quality meat while maintaining the health of the land.

The Rest

Ridge View Farm sells packaged frozen beef, including 85% lean burger, steaks, roasts, and liver, as well as bulk beef and veal. The farm holds retail and commercial food licenses and offers on-farm freezer storage. Meat can be delivered in the Parkersburg WV area or picked up at the farm by appointment. The Murray Grey cattle are known for their calm personality and have won the Australian taste test trial 8 out of the past 10 years.
