About the Farm

Background

Paul Colatrella and Amy Brown, professionals from NYC with a weekend property in upstate NY, had agricultural land and a remodeled barn but lacked the time and expertise to start a farm. They partnered with Taylor and Courtney Tribble, experienced farmers seeking land and equipment, to create a new farming model. Since 2005, they have been vendors at the Hudson Farmers' Market.

Practices

The farm is committed to organic growing with minimal inputs, never using sprays. They employ rock powders, minerals, organic compost, and pasture-raised chickens for soil amendments. They avoid black plastic row covers and limit mechanical usage to reduce fuel consumption, resulting in high-quality, flavorful products. The farm is NOFA-NY Certified Organic and manages 85 acres, including 12 acres of vegetables, berries, apples, herbs, and pasture for heritage-breed laying hens.

The Rest

The farm offers a CSA program with pick-ups in Stuyvesant, Hudson, and Albany, and sells at three local farmers' markets. They specialize in greens, fruit, storage crops, and both culinary and medicinal herbs, available at markets or by special order. Additionally, they provide herbal teas, dried herbs, and other herbal products.
