About the Farm

Background

Red Apple Farm, a fourth-generation family farm located in Phillipston, MA, has roots dating back to the mid-1700s. The farmhouse and barn, surrounded by stonewalls and stately maple trees, evoke a sense of history and tradition. Known for its breathtaking atmosphere and sense of place, the farm offers a connection between the past and the present. Over the years, it has become a beloved destination for families seeking a break from fast-paced life, offering a variety of activities and products that celebrate New England's agricultural heritage.

Practices

The farm employs Integrated Pest Management to grow over 50 varieties of apples, as well as peaches, pears, blueberries, raspberries, pumpkins, gourds, sunflowers, squash, decorative corn, and potatoes. This method ensures that the fruit is grown with conscious thought to both people and the environment. The farm's elevation of 1,250 feet contributes to the production of extra colorful, crisp, and tangy apples.

The Rest

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities, including pick-your-own fruit, educational wagon rides, feeding farm animals, weekend barbecues, and classic farm fare like roasted nuts, hot cider donuts, fruit-topped ice cream, and caramel apples. The farm store, open year-round, offers a variety of locally-made gifts, Massachusetts maple syrup and honey, and an assortment of jarred goods. The Brew Barn, a rustic post-and-beam structure, serves Moon Hill Brewing Company beer, the farm's own hard cider, and barbecue. The farm also hosts annual fairs and festivals, group outings, and private events. Additionally, Red Apple Farm operates a stand inside the Boston Public Market and participates in several seasonal outdoor markets in the Boston area. During ski season, the farm's products can be found on Wachusett Mountain at The Core and Bullock Lodge Cider House.
