About the Farm

Background

Located about thirty miles north of Milwaukee in Belgium, Wisconsin, the farm has been dedicated to growing food for individual families and supplying local upscale restaurants since 1990. The farm's first season was small, serving mostly friends and family, but interest in CSA grew, leading Steve to quit his corporate job 26 years ago to focus on full-time farming. Over the last thirty-three years, the farm has developed and refined its methods to produce high-quality food.

Practices

The farm's philosophy in growing vegetables and raising livestock is based on using methods that are safe for the consumer, the environment, and the workers. Although not certified organic, the farm uses techniques and materials compliant with USDA's National Organic Program. Practices include soil testing, composting, cover crops, adding soil amendments, and integrated pest management (IPM). The farm emphasizes an organic style of farming augmented with biological approaches, focusing on soil health and minimal chemical inputs.

The Rest

The farm operates an online farm stand where customers can purchase fresh, locally grown produce without subscription or membership fees. Orders can be picked up at convenient locations or delivered to homes in some areas. The farm also has almost a quarter acre of greenhouses, allowing them to offer produce at times when it is normally not available. The farm is committed to building healthy relationships with both the soil and the people who eat their food, upholding values to guarantee the highest quality produce.
