About the Farm
Background
The farm's property was purchased in the early 1960s by Ralph and Betty Icenhour, who started with a garden, chickens, pigs, and cows. Ralph worked as an electrician while Betty took on various factory jobs. In the 1970s, they built a chicken house and became growers for Perdue. Ralph kept cows as a hobby, which later became a more serious endeavor in 2007 when their grandson took over. By 2012, the farm transitioned into a business focused on raising beef cattle, continuing the legacy started by Ralph and Betty.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative grazing practices, moving cows to fresh grass daily. During winter or when forage is low, they feed locally sourced grass hay. They avoid using pesticides, herbicides, or any chemicals on their fields, and do not use growth implants or chemical dewormers on their cows. The cows live their entire lives on pasture, embodying the philosophy of 'letting cows be cows.'
The Rest
The farm offers beef in individual cuts or as bulk purchases. They emphasize the importance of hard work, sacrifice, and love in their farming practices, aiming to leave the land better for the next generation. The farm's products are available through their online store.
