About the Farm
Background
Located on the Clarendon Linden Fault line, the farm occasionally experiences small earthquakes and tremors, which inspired its name, 'Quaking Hill Farm.' The farm is dedicated to preserving heritage livestock, reminiscent of the animals found on great-grandparents' farms.
Practices
The farm focuses on raising food the old-fashioned way, emphasizing the preservation of heritage breeds. They offer Black Jersey Giants chickens, Spanish goats, Duroc and Berkshire pigs, and American Milking Devons cows. The Spanish goats, listed on the 'watch list' of the American Livestock Conservancy, are used for both meat and milk production and produce fiber for yarn. The American Milking Devons, critically threatened according to the American Livestock Conservancy, are dual-purpose cows providing rich milk and high-quality beef.
The Rest
Products can be ordered via their website for local pickup or delivery. The farm offers special pricing for youth involved in 4-H and provides breeding stock for various heritage animals, including chickens, goats, pigs, and cows.
