About the Farm
Background
Quail Life Farm and Hatchery began its journey in 2014 when the owners, semi-retired from their air conditioning business, purchased a small flock of Texas A&M Quail. The farm's roots trace back to a time when they raised meat rabbits commercially. Over the years, they expanded their interest to Northern Bob White Quail, acquiring their starter flock from a knowledgeable couple. The farm has steadily grown, adding more barns and pens to accommodate the increasing flock. By 2020, the farm had built a modern hen barn and continued to expand its operations. In 2021, they reintroduced rabbits to diversify their meat selection.
Practices
The farm emphasizes clean and comfortable living conditions for their quail, ensuring they have access to excellent feed and fresh water. Their breeders are sourced from top-quality stock and are NPIP tested to guarantee healthy birds. The farm utilizes equipment repurposed from their previous rabbit business, adapting it to meet the needs of their quail. They are committed to sharing their knowledge with others, fostering an interest in raising quail.
The Rest
Quail Life Farm and Hatchery also offers pickled quail eggs prepared in a state-inspected kitchen. They donate a portion of their proceeds to a local SPCA and have expanded their offerings to include pet accessories, toys, and books through a separate website. The farm provides various quail products, including fertile eggs, day-old chicks, and adult birds, with special offers for homesteaders. They also have a selection of 'Skillet Quail' available for culinary enthusiasts.
