About the Farm
Background
Located in the Dungeness Valley, Purple Haze Lavender Farm is one of over 36 growers in the area dedicated to cultivating lavender. The farm has integrated its lavender fields into a picturesque landscape of gardens, orchards, ponds, and wetlands, all set against the backdrop of the Olympic Mountains. The farm's success is deeply rooted in its commitment to preserving the agricultural heritage of the Dungeness Valley.
Practices
The farm thrives due to the region's unique microclimate, characterized by low rainfall, mild winters, and open exposure. Lavender is harvested by hand, distilled into oils, and dried in bundles. The farm produces value-added products from the essential oils and sachets. The farm's practices emphasize the sustainable cultivation of perennial organic flowers and the preservation of the land's natural beauty.
The Rest
Purple Haze Lavender Farm is a popular tourist destination, offering visitors a connection to America's agricultural roots. The farm is open for private photography sessions by appointment and does not allow drones to protect their honey bees. The farm hosts events such as the Lil' Ole Lavender Festivus, featuring live music, food trucks, and arts and crafts vendors. The farm will be closed for a private event during the Sequim Lavender Festival in 2024 but will reopen shortly after.
