About the Farm

Background

Founded in 2005 by Jen and Jeff Miller after careers in landscape architecture and marketing, the farm began at Prairie Crossing, a conservation community in Grayslake, Illinois. Over 18 years, they have built a reputation for quality and reliability, growing their farming knowledge and passion for soil health. They have collaborated with Liberty Prairie to manage 94 acres of land, providing organic food to the Chicago area community.

Practices

The farm focuses on certified organic farming methods, emphasizing soil health and sustainable land stewardship. Hens are raised on pasture, contributing to the farm's ecological balance. Collaboration with schools, partner farmers, chefs, and food pantries is a cornerstone of their approach, ensuring a community-oriented and integrative farming practice.

The Rest

CSA members enjoy a direct connection to the farm through various share options, including vegetable, fruit, and egg shares. The farm offers an online newsletter with updates, cooking tips, and recipes, as well as seasonal events for members. Convenient community pickup sites and flexible payment plans enhance accessibility for the Chicago area community.
