About the Farm
Background
Powers Farm is a small, dynamic family farm located in Townsend, Delaware. Known for providing a local source of farm-fresh food products, they pride themselves on producing safe, wholesome products to maintain the health of local customers throughout the Delmarva area. The farm also sells other local products in their farm market, including cheese, yogurt, ice cream, honey, maple syrup, popping corn, produce, and jewelry.
Practices
Powers Farm takes a caring approach in raising their livestock, producing all-natural, fresh, pasture-raised, high-quality, high-palatable USDA Inspected beef and pork products. Their cage-free laying hens produce delicious farm-fresh brown eggs that are free of growth hormones. The cattle graze on pastures and enjoy a diet primarily composed of hay forages supplemented with non-GMO corn, soybean meal, and a complete mineral pack. The beef undergoes a traditional dry aging process for a minimum of 21 days. Antibiotics are used sparingly and strictly for therapeutic purposes, adhering to withdrawal periods and maintaining detailed records. The Mangalitsa cross pigs are raised in open pens and fed a balanced diet of non-GMO corn, soybean meal, and a complete mineral pack. Chickens are provided with a comfortable and natural environment, enjoying a diet made from non-GMO corn, alfalfa, marigold petals, and a balanced mineral pack.
The Rest
Powers Farm also raises Australian Shepherds, which are terrific workers and family dogs. They invite visitors to check back often for new litters of Aussies. The farm market offers a variety of local products, enhancing the community's access to fresh, locally-sourced goods.
