About the Farm

Background

On March 26, 1948, a young couple named Lee Roy and Cordie Moore began their journey on a 152-acre bend in the Brazos River. Over the past 70 years, six generations have come to cherish and nurture this land, experiencing its healing power and bountiful offerings. The farm has grown to share its bounty with the community, rooted in a deep love and respect for the land.

Practices

The farm employs pasture raising methods, ensuring that animals have access to fresh grass, sunshine, dirt, and bugs. Birds are moved to fresh grass daily, allowing them to express natural behaviors such as foraging and fertilizing the soil. The farm supplements their diet with a Non-GMO, No Corn, No Soy feed, ensuring a balanced intake of vitamins and minerals. This approach contrasts sharply with factory farming, emphasizing animal welfare and ecological stewardship. The farm's philosophy aligns with Joel Salatin's principles, allowing animals to fully express themselves and live stress-free lives.

The Rest

The farm offers both Commercial Standard Cornish Cross and Heritage Cross Freedom Ranger chickens, the latter known for its richer flavor profile. Customers can explore various pickup or delivery options through the farm's website. The farm also maintains a YouTube channel to keep the community updated. Proudly, the farm highlights the misleading nature of terms like Free Range, Cage Free, Organic, and All Natural as used by commercial poultry growers, underscoring the genuine quality of their own products.
