About the Farm
Background
Nourish the Planet, based in Loveland, Colorado, emerged from a desire to address pressing global challenges such as feeding a growing population and healing economic systems through sustainable agriculture. The organization operates two campuses equipped with greenhouses, converted warehouses, pastures, farm fields, and urban lots, all dedicated to testing and improving sustainable food production methods. Known for its pioneering work in aquaponics, aquaculture, vermiculture, and sustainable ranching, the organization has built a reputation for developing low-tech, replicable solutions that can be implemented globally.
Practices
The farm employs a variety of sustainable practices, including marine aquaculture systems and freshwater aquaponic systems within their greenhouse and warehouse spaces to grow healthy, delicious food. On their ranch, rotational grazing patterns are used to build soil fertility and heal the landscape. The interconnected approach to farming emphasizes environmental nurturing and economic soundness, ensuring that their methods not only produce food but also revitalize ecosystems and local economies.
The Rest
Nourish the Planet offers extensive educational programs, including classes, business accelerator programs, and internships, aimed at empowering aspiring and existing agribusiness entrepreneurs. The organization also hosts live webinars and podcasts through the Ecolonomic Action Team (EAT) program, providing coaching, mentoring, and networking opportunities. The staff comprises a mix of seasoned entrepreneurial veterans and passionate young agribusiness professionals, all dedicated to making the planet better through sustainable agriculture.
