About the Farm

Background

The dream of starting a small farm began when Nicole and her husband, Eduardo, purchased a small 2-acre plot of land and a 100-year-old home in 2017 in Turlock, California. With existing corrals and a chicken coop, they quickly started raising livestock and planning their first kitchen garden. By the fall of 2018, they began discussing ideas for a small CSA program and market garden with Nicole's sister, Kala. From 2019 to 2023, the farm provided fresh, seasonal produce, herbs, pastured lamb meat, healing botanicals, skincare, and flowers to their community through weekly produce boxes, a farmstand, and an online store. They collaborated with local artisans to offer additional products like coffee, sourdough bread, mushrooms, meat, and eggs. In July 2023, they sold their farm and moved to Panama to start a new chapter.

Practices

The farm follows a philosophy of running things as close to their natural processes as possible. Instead of tilling the soil, they continually add compost and organic matter, embracing the benefits of no-till farming. This method improves water retention, soil health, and biodiversity. All produce and flowers are non-GMO and organically grown, with many heirloom and specialty varieties. The farm also offers pastured lamb meats in the fall, ensuring that livestock are raised in a humane and ecologically responsible manner.

The Rest

Nourish Farm collaborates with other local, sustainably-minded businesses to offer add-ons to their CSA member boxes, including coffee, pastured eggs, sourdough, and mushrooms. The farm is now located in the Chiriqui Province of Panama, in a small town called Las Lajas, just a ten-minute drive from Playa Las Lajas. The new location is surrounded by cattle pastures, lush green trees, creeks, and a warm and inviting community.
