About the Farm

Background

Farming on Tug Hill for over 10 years, the farm has been applying sustainable organic principles since its inception and has been certified organic since 2001. Known for supporting rare and disappearing heritage breeds, the farm has established a reputation for producing high-quality meat and other products.

Practices

All animals are pastured during the grazing season, with beef cattle fed lush grass and high-quality hay in winter. The British White beef is exclusively grass-fed, and during winter, all animals are housed in well-bedded, free stalls and fed certified organic hay. The farm also raises Tamworth pigs, Red Bourbon and Slate turkeys, heritage breed chickens, and Shropshire lamb, all organically fed. Honey and maple syrup are produced following organic production rules, though not certified. The farm prioritizes the natural way of life for animals, selecting heritage breeds for their ability to thrive under natural conditions.

The Rest

The farm also grows small grains used to feed their animals during the colder season. They believe in treating all animals humanely, providing them with the happiest and most natural life possible. Additionally, the farm is home to Irish Draught Horses, American Chinchilla Rabbits, and the Spinone Italiano, a rare bird hunting dog from Italy.
