About the Farm
Background
Located in beautiful Townsend, MA for over 17 years, the farmstead sits atop 'Nissiquassick Hill,' named after the original Native American designation for the area. Known for its farm fresh eggs and USDA certified meats, the farm has built a reputation for quality and animal welfare.
Practices
The farm employs a mix of biodynamic and permaculture practices. Layer hens roam sheep pens and open areas, feeding on bugs, clover, and grass, supplemented with Green Mountain organic pelletized grain. Livestock, including sheep and goats, graze on pasture and forage from surrounding woodlands, with diets supplemented by organic hay and grain. Broiler chickens are raised twice a year in a cage-free environment with outdoor access, feeding on green grass, clover, bugs, and organic broiler grower crumble. No hormones are used, and all practices aim for higher animal welfare.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of products including eggs, chicken, lamb, and chevon meat, available for purchase at their farm cart on Brown Rd or via email. They also sell beautiful, bulky-weight Lopi Icelandic yarn from their sheep. Customers have praised the quality of their products, particularly the goat Greek sausage and farm fresh eggs. The farm welcomes inquiries from other farmers interested in raising Icelandic Sheep, Boer Goats, and Chickens.
