About the Farm
Background
Originally homesteaded in 1878, the farm was reborn as New Era Farm in 2005 after the land had been fallow for twenty years. It received MOSA certification in 2008 and is situated in the heart of Amish farmland in Vernon County.
Practices
The farm utilizes sustainable growing practices, leveraging the rich biodiversity of the area, which includes natural buffer zones of wetlands, forest, and meadows. The focus is on organic farming methods to produce nutrient-enhanced food.
The Rest
Woman-owned and a true small family farm, the farm produces wild and cultivated fruits such as strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, rhubarb, plums, and heirloom apples. It also grows a broad spectrum of herbs, garlic, heirloom vegetables, and cut flowers for restaurants, retailers, and CSA clients. They offer jams and jellies made from their organic crops and are seeking additional clients for their Wisconsin CSA program within a 40-mile radius. Additionally, they plan to add free-range chickens for organic egg production and offer all-natural free-range grazier beef through a partnership with a local rancher.
