About the Farm
Background
Established as part of the faith-based non-profit New City Neighbors, the farm operates in Grand Rapids and collaborates with Grand Valley University and Plainsong Farms. It employs neighborhood high school youth, teaching them valuable life and job skills. The farm feeds 250 families through its CSA program and donates 25% of its produce to Good Food Partners.
Practices
All produce is grown in compost-enriched soil without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or GMOs. The farm uses certified organic fertilizers to supplement the soil. They utilize high tunnels and caterpillar tunnels to extend the growing season.
The Rest
The farm offers CSA shares from May to December, providing a 25% discount compared to farmer's market prices. They accept EBT payments and participate in the Double Up Food Bucks program, offering a 50% discount to EBT customers. Additionally, a weekly pop-up café operates from June to August, featuring wood-fired pizza, soups, salads, and baked goods.
