About the Farm

Background

Founded in 2010, Neighborhood Foods Farm is the urban farming branch of Urban Tree Connection, a non-profit organization. The main farm site, located on the 5300 block of Wyalusing Ave in Haddington, was the first in the city to obtain land rights through the Pennsylvania Abandoned and Blighted Property Conservatorship Act of 2009. This pioneering effort has set a precedent for other urban farms and organizations to gain control of property through alternative means.

Practices

Neighborhood Foods Farm employs site-specific growing strategies based on soil and water tests, avoiding harmful chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. They adhere to natural and sustainable growing methods and good agricultural practices.

The Rest

The farm is open to visitors and volunteers on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8am-1pm, with an on-farm market stand open on Saturdays from 10am-2pm from Mother's Day Weekend through Thanksgiving. Farm tours are available upon request.
