About the Farm

Background

Located in the South River valley just north of Conway, Massachusetts, this small, diversified farm has become a community-oriented hub known for its reverence for all living things. The farm offers CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares to the local community, providing fresh produce for weekly pickup during a 22-week season from June through October. The farm store, open daily and self-serve year-round, sells seasonal vegetables and other locally produced products.

Practices

With a deep respect for the interconnectedness of life, the farm nourishes its soils using carefully made compost, green manure crops, and grazing animals. Work horses are integral to the farm's operations, handling tasks such as plowing, cultivating, mowing, and spreading compost. The farm tills about seven acres of prime bottomland and emphasizes the importance of nourishing the land to produce food that contributes to the health and vitality of the community. Interns are trained annually in sustainable agricultural skills, including the craft of work horse care and driving.

The Rest

The farm is graced by the South River, which runs between the crop fields and the roadside CSA & Farm Store barn. Visitors often spend hours at the farm, wading in the river, picking you-pick crops, and visiting with friends. The farm's philosophy centers on the belief that food is medicine, aiming to contribute to the healing and enlivening of the culture through its produce.
