About the Farm
Background
Natural Borders Farm has developed a reputation for its grass-fed beef, utilizing a rotational grazing system to ensure the health and vitality of their livestock and land. Over the years, they have expanded their operations to include horses, poultry, sheep, and pigs, each playing a role in the farm's ecosystem.
Practices
The farm employs a rotational grazing system where cattle move daily to fresh paddocks of native grasses, promoting biodiversity and soil health. Horses, poultry, and sheep graze alongside the cattle, enhancing the variety of grass species and providing natural predator protection. Pigs are used for compost production, spending significant time in the cattle barn to turn bedding material into rich compost. The farm avoids chemicals, hormones, and routine drugs, focusing on natural and healthy livestock management. Honeybees are kept on-site to aid in pollination and produce honey.
The Rest
The farm processes its cattle in a federally inspected plant, offering beef in quarters, halves, or whole. Limited pork is available in the fall and spring, and honey is available most of the time. Visitors are welcome to visit the farm at any time.
