About the Farm
Background
Nathan's Naturals has been growing food products for many years, with a generational vision involving grandparents through grandchildren working together. The farm is in the process of becoming Certified Organic, awaiting the official inspection.
Practices
The farm employs sustainable and natural farming methods, avoiding artificial chemical products. Soil enrichment is a key focus, utilizing chicken manure, cover crops, and crop rotation. They grow a wide variety of heirloom, open-pollinated fruits and vegetables, and raise pastured chickens for eggs and meat. Freedom Rangers are chosen for meat due to their excellent flavor and hardiness.
The Rest
This year's produce includes everbearing strawberries, golden raspberries, spring snap peas, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, green beans, onions, four varieties of garlic, various lettuces, spinach, kale, cucumbers, tomatoes, tomatillos, sweet peppers, Anaheim and poblano peppers, and watermelon. New additions include rose geranium and lemon cucumber for essential oils and hydrosols. The farm currently cultivates 1.5 acres and has applied to certify 8 acres to expand garden space and pasture.
