About the Farm
Background
Stoneledge Farm, located in the foothills of the Northern Catskills in Greene County, New York, spans 300 acres and has been a certified organic farm since its inception. The farm's journey began in 1996 when it adopted the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, allowing it to grow with the support of its members. Over the years, the farm has been nurtured by the Kavakos family, with Peter Jr. and Candice now leading the operations alongside the support of Pete Sr., Deborah, and a dedicated team. The farm's legacy continues with the involvement of the third generation, Peter and Candice's children, who are learning the values and lessons of farming.
Practices
Stoneledge Farm adheres to organic farming principles, ensuring that all produce is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The farm's fields, located on prime agricultural land adjacent to the Catskill Creek, benefit from the natural fertility of the soil, supported by a stone ledge running just below the surface. This careful stewardship of the land reflects a commitment to maintaining soil health and ecological balance, which is integral to their farming philosophy.
The Rest
Stoneledge Farm offers a diverse range of shares through its CSA program, including vegetable, fruit, mushroom, coffee, dry bean, and bread shares. The farm also provides a variety of recipes to help members make the most of their CSA items. Additionally, the farm store is open to visitors, and the farm maintains an active presence on Instagram, offering a glimpse into daily life on the farm.
