About the Farm
Background
Founded in 1896 by Harriet Lawrence Hemenway and Minna B. Hall, Mass Audubon is New England's largest nature-based conservation organization. It focuses on protecting wildlife, conserving land, advocating for environmental policies, and offering educational programs. Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary, established in Sharon, spans 1967 acres and includes forests, fields, and wetlands.
Practices
Moose Hill Community Farm operates under the CSA model, where members buy shares and receive a variety of foods harvested at peak ripeness. The farm emphasizes the importance of fresh, nutrient-rich produce and practices that support biodiversity and land resilience.
The Rest
Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary offers diverse hiking trails, a red maple swamp boardwalk, and various programs and activities. The sanctuary is open daily from dawn to dusk, with a nature center operating Wednesday through Sunday. It maintains strict regulations to protect the environment, including prohibitions on dog walking, horseback riding, and camping.
