About the Farm
Background
Established in 1902 by Esma B. Milburn, the orchard has been family-owned and operated for over 120 years. The farm is now managed by the fourth generation of the Milburn family, with each member taking on specific roles to ensure the farm's continued success. Originally started by Esma, the farm was later managed by his son John W. Milburn, followed by his sons Evan and John, who are now retired but still contribute. Today, John's children, Jay, David, and Melinda, oversee various aspects of the farm's operations.
Practices
The farm is dedicated to modern, environmentally friendly growing practices that protect both the family and the orchard soil. Fruits and vegetables are picked at the peak of flavor and nutrition, ensuring a fresh and high-quality product for customers.
The Rest
The farm market is open seasonally from June through the fall and winter, offering a variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables. The Bake Shoppe produces country fresh pies, apple cider donuts, caramel apples, and other baked goods. Visitors can also enjoy ice cream and snacks at the Orchard View Ice Cream & Snack Deck. The farm hosts a range of activities including U-Pick Adventures, farm tours, and seasonal events like fall festivals and nighttime bonfire parties. The Big Backyard offers a fun space for children to play and interact with farm animals.
