About the Farm
Background
Brian and Amy Tennis founded New Mission Organics in 2006, planting their first acre on the Leelanau Peninsula in 2009. They formed the Michigan Hop Alliance in 2010 to process their own hops and those from other farms in northern Michigan. Over the years, they have grown to become leaders in innovative hop production in the Midwest, with more than 20 hop varieties in production and numerous expansions.
Practices
The farm focuses on sustainable hop production, processing hops from the hopyard to pellets. They emphasize collaboration with a network of growers, brokers, and breweries to source and provide high-quality hops. Their values of honesty, integrity, innovation, and collaboration are central to their business practices.
The Rest
The farm offers a wide variety of hop products, including pelleted and fresh hops, with varieties such as Brewer's Gold, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Comet, Copper, Galena, Mackinac, Magnum, Nugget, Saaz, Summit, and Triple Pearl. They support other farmers interested in growing hops and have become one of the largest independent hop suppliers in the Midwest.
