About the Farm
Background
In partnership with Golden Vineyards at Heart Arrow Ranch, the farm aspires to cultivate a diverse and self-sustaining farm landscape. Known for their passion for great food, they raise high-quality meats and crops that reflect the unique terroir of Heart Arrow Ranch.
Practices
Pasture-based and humanely-raised, the livestock thrive in balance with the land. Integrating livestock and crop production ensures healthy soil and a healthy farm. Heritage breed pigs roam oak woodlands, enjoying fallen acorns, whey, and other locally-sourced feed. Shropshire- and Dorset-cross lambs are raised for the specific climate, landscape, and pasture-based management style. Belted Galloway and Dexter-Angus cows are grass-fed on green summer pasture, Heart Arrow rangelands, and the farm's own hay. A small herd of Kiko and Boer-Nubian goats roam with the sheep flock throughout the ranch. From spring to autumn, Freedom Ranger and Cornish X meat chickens pasture in the green olive orchard and enjoy 100% organic feed. Egg-laying chickens, mostly Mediterranean breeds, are free to roam and produce eggs with rich-colored yolks.
The Rest
Fresh vegetables and fruit complement the meats and round out a healthy, nutritious diet. The farm holds CDFA Organic Registration #23-004087 and Approved Source Certificate #MEN_2016_67. Select grains are also available, providing nutritious options not just for hogs and chickens.
