About the Farm

Background

Set on 85 acres of rolling forest, grassland, and shaded draws near Troy, Idaho, Mellifera Farm was homesteaded in the late 1800s and maintained as a diverse family farm for much of the next century. Over the years, it has evolved into a unique place inspired by both art and science.

Practices

The farm focuses on sustainable production methods, particularly in breeding and selecting queen bees suited for local Pacific Northwest conditions. Their approach integrates the natural landscape, utilizing the diverse terrain to support their bees and sheep. The Icelandic/Shetland sheep are raised for both meat and fiber, ensuring a holistic use of resources.

The Rest

In addition to their agricultural pursuits, the farm also operates as a flower farm and design studio, offering workshops, custom designs, and events. They are passionate about their Flower Club and Flower Happy Hour, inviting community engagement and participation.
