About the Farm
Background
Located in a rural corner of Lexington, Massachusetts, Meadow Mist Farm is a family-run, chemical-free, 6-acre farm. Known for its deep reverence for nature and the integrated ecological circle of life, the farm has become a local staple for providing beautiful, good-for-you, pesticide-free food for families. Meadow Mist Farm is the first Massachusetts farm to join the Soil Carbon Challenge, an international competition to measure how quickly land managers can turn atmospheric carbon into soil organic matter.
Practices
Meadow Mist Farm uses non-GMO, organic, antibiotic-free animal feeds and avoids the use of any type of insecticide, herbicide, or fungicide on their gardens and pastures. They rely on crop rotation, on-site composting, cover cropping, and rotational grazing to build soil health. The farm also grows and raises Slow Food Ark of Taste products and livestock, emphasizing sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
The Rest
In addition to their primary products, Meadow Mist Farm offers local raw honey, organic Italian eucalyptus and bergamot honey, award-winning Italian organic extra virgin olive oil, and their own seedless raspberry/orange, grape, and tomato jam. They also produce Vermont-made maple syrup, heirloom popcorn on the cob, pumpkins, garlic chives, heirloom garlic, garlic scapes, shiso, tulsi basil, Italian herbs, and heirloom dried beans. Their fresh eggs are particularly popular, coming from hens fed only organically grown, non-GMO feed and supplemented with organically grown pea, wheat, and sunflower sprouts. Meadow Mist Farm's eggs are available by the dozen or through an egg CSA.
