About the Farm
Background
Established in 1871 by Irish immigrant Dominick, the farm has been operated by the McGrath family for five generations. Located in Camarillo, CA, the farm spans 300 acres and has become known for its deep topsoil and favorable climate. In March of 2008, the farm opened its Farm Center, which includes a seven-day-per-week farmers market, restaurant deliveries throughout Southern California, and a Community Supported Agriculture program.
Practices
The farm is committed to certified organic farming practices, growing vegetables year-round on 24 acres, with an additional 4 acres dedicated to strawberries and 17 acres to lemons. The focus is on maintaining soil health and producing a diverse array of crops to support the local community. Education is also a priority, with agricultural education provided through farm tours aimed at preserving farmland.
The Rest
Visitors can shop at the roadside market from 10am to 5pm daily, with the option to call ahead for availability. The farm also participates in five different farmers markets located in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties. U-pick activities are available but close if it rains. Year-round tours are offered to educate the public about sustainable farming practices.
