About the Farm
Background
The story begins in 1947 when Charles McCoy returned home from his service in the United States Navy after WWII. He resumed farming in Cove City, raising cattle, tobacco, and corn, while also running a grocery store. His son Myron McCoy continued the farming operation after Charles passed away, expanding to include hogs, corn, and soybeans. Myron, along with his wife Sharon, had two children, Cheryl and Charlie. Charlie, after graduating from NC State University in 1999, returned to the farm to continue the family tradition. Today, Charlie and his wife Kristen, along with their sons Wyatt and Lucas, work the farm under the guidance of Myron and Sharon.
Practices
The farm breeds and raises registered Hereford and Hereford Angus cross cattle, ensuring the livestock are fed with row crops and hay grown on the farm. The McCoys emphasize responsible cattle raising practices.
The Rest
The farm offers freezer beef by individual cuts and wholesale options, as well as seasonal sweet corn and fresh farm eggs. They are proud members of the American Hereford Association and the North Carolina Hereford Association. Visitors are welcome to call or stop by to reserve their beef or shop directly at the farm.
