About the Farm

Background

Maya's Farm began as a small venture by Maya Dailey, who transitioned from growing herbs and edible flowers for fun to a full-time farming operation in 2006. Initially starting with a quarter-acre garden, the farm expanded to over seven acres by 2013 and earned CCOF Organic Certification. Maya's background in biology and geology, coupled with her experience in the restaurant industry, laid the foundation for the farm's success. Over the years, the farm has become a local landmark and a fixture in the sustainable farming movement, supplying produce to farmers' markets, a CSA program, and top local restaurants.

Practices

Maya's Farm employs biodynamic techniques to cultivate its land, which is situated on an ancient riverbed with sandy soils and natural Artesian wells. The farm avoids the use of pesticides, herbicides, and commercial fertilizers, instead opting for hand cultivation and natural methods. The rich earth, consciously augmented through these techniques, produces some of the healthiest and most nutrient-dense produce available. The farm's philosophy emphasizes working in harmony with the land, a practice Maya describes as 'dancing' with the earth.

The Rest

Maya's Farm offers a variety of ways for the community to engage, including farmers' market booths, a CSA program, and a school garden initiative. The farm also welcomes visitors and conducts farm tours and classes upon request. Located near South Mountain Park in Phoenix, Arizona, the farm serves as an oasis of serenity and a hub for learning about responsible food consumption. Maya attributes the farm's success to the support of local chef-owned restaurants, farmers' markets, and loyal CSA members.
