About the Farm
Background
Since 1978, this 325-acre farm located in Preston, Connecticut has been a cherished destination for families, providing lasting memories through activities like cut-your-own Christmas trees and pick-your-own berries. Over the years, the farm has adapted to changing times, scaling back some operations while introducing new offerings such as an event venue in a renovated post and beam barn and lodging in a recently updated 1700’s colonial home.
Practices
The farm is committed to growing products without pesticides or fungicides in a GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certified environment, using only non-GMO seeds. Their hydroponic Bibb lettuce is grown year-round in a 5,000 square foot greenhouse, yielding over 250,000 heads annually. The Christmas trees, including Balsam Fir, Fraser Fir, Canaan Fir, and Concolor Fir, are carefully planted, fertilized, grown, sheared, and harvested with meticulous care.
The Rest
In addition to farming, the farm offers an event venue for weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, and corporate meetings. The farm's 1700’s colonial home is available for rent, providing a unique lodging experience for visitors. The farm continues to be a popular destination from April through Christmas, especially for its cut-your-own Christmas trees, which are ready for cutting the day after Thanksgiving.
