About the Farm

Background

Founded in 1994 and certified organic in 1999, this farm has been a well-known provider of organic produce to restaurants and up to 700 members, distributing 750 boxes per week to over 25 drop-off points in the metro Detroit area. Despite financial challenges that led to the lapse of their organic certification, the farm has continued its organic practices.

Practices

The farm spans 80 acres, with 60 acres dedicated to vegetable production and 5-10 acres in rotating pasture or green manure crops. They emphasize soil fertility and a holistic approach to organic agriculture, ensuring that all aspects of their farming practices contribute to the health of the environment.

The Rest

Visitors can find the farm's produce every Saturday at the historic Eastern Market in Detroit, where they offer popular Farm Boxes during the Spring and Summer months. The market is a celebrated family activity and a great opportunity to purchase organic vegetables.
