About the Farm
Background
The farm, located on almost 800 acres near the northern end of the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, has been a family endeavor for generations. In 2010, a family member with a background in geospatial intelligence returned to the Shenandoah Valley to preserve and protect the farm from future development. The beef program was one of the first projects, following the grandparents' example of polyculture farming. Since 2012, the farm has expanded to include honey bees, herbs, fruit trees, grape vines, hop bines, and berries.
Practices
The farm adheres to a philosophy of ethical and humane treatment of animals, raising grass-fed, grass-finished beef, lamb, goat, and pork without the use of antibiotics or hormones. They are a Virginia Beef Quality Assurance Certified Producer and a registered Johne's prevention herd. The farming methods emphasize polyculture and the interconnectedness of the ecosystem, ensuring that the land is treated with respect and care.
The Rest
The farm offers local delivery within 75 miles, including areas like Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and parts of Maryland. They are also developing a farm winery and brewery, and renovating barns to serve as rustic wedding and event venues. Visitors are welcome both online and in person to explore the farm and its offerings. The farm also hosts educational programs and community events, with plans to expand these offerings in the future.
