About the Farm
Background
The farm began raising chickens in 2007 and has gradually developed its business to provide the local community with fresh, healthy, delicious chickens (broilers), turkeys, and eggs. Known for their careful selection of three different meat bird breeds for slow growth and foraging ability, they ensure the nutritional value and flavor of the meat. Their egg layers are a mix of heritage and production breeds, and their limited number of turkeys are all heritage breeds.
Practices
The farm employs organic practices, feeding all birds certified organic grains and keeping them on pasture once feathered. Daily treats such as heirloom vegetables from their organically managed garden are provided. They have never used herbicides, pesticides, or other chemicals on their land, although they are not a certified organic farm. Their goals include living responsibly on the land by providing habitat for native animals and plants, dedicating 30% of their farm to wildlife habitat, and building the soils through careful livestock management to provide wholesome, healthy foods for themselves and their local community.
The Rest
The farm's commitment to organic practices and sustainable living is evident in their dedication to providing habitat for native wildlife and their focus on soil health. Their careful selection of bird breeds and organic feeding practices contribute to the high nutritional value and flavor of their poultry products.
