About the Farm
Background
LoveTree Farmstead Cheese has established itself as a producer of some of the world's finest and most unique sheep cheese and dry-aged 'European' style grass-fed organic lamb. The farm operates on 200 acres, with 130 acres dedicated to grazing lands and 70 acres reserved for wildlife habitat, enhancing both the environment and the flavors of their products.
Practices
The farm is organically managed, with sheep milked seasonally from April to September when the grass is green. Raw milk cheeses are made exclusively from this grass-fed milk. Market lambs are weaned at approximately 45 days and reared on whey from the cheeseroom, grass, and occasionally a minimal amount of corn if necessary due to late pastures or early winter conditions. The farm's commitment to organic practices and seasonal grazing ensures the health of the land and the quality of their products.
The Rest
Products include raw milk cave-aged sheep cheeses, raw milk cave-aged jersey cow milk cheeses (when available), European style lamb, Hot House lambs, replacement stock for sheep dairies, and livestock guardian dogs. Sales occur at the St. Paul Farmers Market and through on-farm appointments. Web and mail orders are available for raw milk cave-aged cheese.
