About the Farm
Background
Founded in 2014, the farm has been cultivating a diverse array of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, and is known for its commitment to organic practices. Initially farming on 1.5 acres or less, they are in the process of expanding to a 30-acre plot in Stoughton, WI. The farm is part of The Farley Center Farm Incubator in Verona, WI, where they collaborate with other new farmers and participate in community events like The Farley Center Cider Fest.
Practices
The farm adheres to certified organic standards, avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, and even refraining from using organically certified pesticides/fertilizers unless absolutely necessary. They focus on growing a wide variety of produce, including unique items like ginger and turmeric in their hoop house. Their philosophy emphasizes nourishing the land and providing high-quality, clean food to their community.
The Rest
The farm offers a unique CSA program with pick-ups at local farmers' markets, allowing members to choose their produce each week. They sell their produce through local CSA, restaurants, grocery stores, and three farmers' markets in Madison. The farm also hosts events like The Farley Center Cider Fest and is active on social media for updates. They welcome inquiries about farming and enjoy engaging with their community.
