About the Farm

Background

Lora’s Nourishing Produce was founded in 2009 by Lora Epps, who grew up in a health-conscious family in Colorado. After an 18-month internship and subsequent management role at Berry Patch Farms, Lora decided to start her own farm to provide nutritious, pesticide-free produce to the Denver Metro area. The farm collaborates with other local organic farmers to ensure a variety of produce for its CSA members.

Practices

The farm focuses on creating a healthy environment for soil-based organisms to convert soil elements into absorbable nutrients for plants. They avoid petroleum-based fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, instead opting for comprehensive soil testing to determine necessary mineral additions. This meticulous care for the soil results in nutrient-rich produce, aligning with their mission to grow health-building food.

The Rest

Lora’s Nourishing Produce offers CSA shares for vegetables, herbs, and organic fruits, with multiple pick-up locations to reduce carbon footprint. The farm emphasizes direct communication with members, often through personal delivery by Lora herself, to gather feedback and build community. Marla Epps, with a Master's degree in Horticulture, contributes to the farm's research on maximizing nutrient density in crops.
