About the Farm
Background
Longmeadow Farm has been farming organically since 1982, cultivating a private market of repeat customers who receive custom-cut sides of beef each fall. The farm spans 250 acres and focuses on producing high-quality beef from Hereford cattle raised without antibiotics, growth hormones, or chemical-based dewormers.
Practices
The farm employs rotational grazing on over 100 acres of improved grass pasture during the growing season and feeds stored grass-based forages in winter. Cattle are grass-fed and finished, roaming freely over 10 acres of permanent pasture and woods during winter. The operation avoids chemical/petro-based fertilizers, pesticides/herbicides, and GMO seeds, adhering to principles of environmental protection, humane animal treatment, and sustainable agriculture.
The Rest
Longmeadow Farm offers farm tours and welcomes visitors to stop by for a chat. Beef sides are aged 18-21 days and custom cut to customer specifications, ensuring a superior local product and rewarding eating experience.
