About the Farm
Background
Located in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, Long Meadow Ranch spans a rugged 650-acre landscape. The name was inspired by a long, sweeping meadow within the property. Known for its diversified, sustainable, and organic farming methods, Long Meadow Ranch has become a purveyor of fine foods and wines, supplying Napa Valley's finest restaurants.
Practices
Long Meadow Ranch employs an integrated farming system where each part of the ranch contributes to the health of the whole. The farm produces its own fertilizers through extensive composting, using organic material from various segments of the ranch. Soil erosion is managed, and new soils are built using permanent cover crops like grasses, clovers, and legumes. No herbicides or pesticides are used, and all crops comply with the California Organic Foods Act of 1990. The beef is raised chemical-free, hormone-free, and antibiotic-free, adhering to strict organic practices.
The Rest
Long Meadow Ranch beef and eggs are available at the Saint Helena Farmers Market, through the ranch's website, and at the LMR Rutherford Gardens open-air market from April to October. The farm also offers indoor and outdoor dining at its Farmstead restaurant, showcasing fresh ingredients from its farm, ranch, and vineyards. Additionally, the ranch provides picturesque venues for weddings, special events, and corporate retreats, and offers membership benefits through the LMR Corral Club.
