About the Farm

Background

Little Lane Farm is a one-woman operation dedicated to urban agriculture. The farm is known for its small dairy herd consisting of Jersey cows, including Mary Beth and her calf Henri, as well as Clara Bell, a miniature Jersey, and a couple of sheep. The farm also tends extensive gardens and a mushroom farm. Produce and dairy products are available at the Lee's Summit Farmer's Market or directly from the farm through a CSA-type monthly subscription.

Practices

Little Lane Farm follows organic practices, though it is not certified organic. The animals are pasture-fed with some grain provided during milking. A closed milking machine system is used to ensure the quality of the milk. All animals are hormone-free and grass-fed, emphasizing the farm's commitment to responsible and healthy agricultural practices.

The Rest

The farm offers community garden spaces to the public, though spots are limited. They also sell 100% whole wheat bread under the name Red Hen Bread at the Lee's Summit Farmer's Market and through the Bread & Butter CSA. An Artisan Cheese Club is in development, with plans for cheese tasting evenings and the ability to purchase various cheeses. Milk costs $4 per half gallon, and customers are encouraged to text or call for more information.
