About the Farm
Background
Ledgeview Gardens began its journey in 2000 with the construction of a 'Three Bay' gutter connect Hydroponic Greenhouse structure, initially producing beefsteak tomatoes. The following year, cucumbers were added to their hydroponic produce list, and lettuce followed soon after. Over the years, the farm has expanded to include nearly 18 acres of soil-grown produce. Despite not being certified organic, the farm has remained committed to growing healthy produce without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides.
Practices
The farm employs both hydroponic and traditional soil-based farming methods. Hydroponics allows for an extended growing season, providing an early start and late-season produce. The farm's philosophy centers on the belief that avoiding pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides is paramount to producing healthy food. This commitment to natural growing practices is maintained without seeking organic certification to avoid increased overhead costs and higher prices for consumers.
The Rest
Ledgeview Gardens offers a market-style CSA membership, allowing for customizable shares for its members. The farm sells its produce through CSA memberships, local retailers, and restaurants. Visitors are encouraged to contact the farm to learn about available produce throughout the season. The farm is located in Green Bay and prides itself on providing fresh, pesticide-free, quality food to the local community.
