About the Farm

Background

Located at Spencer Mountain near Charlotte, this farm has become known for its naturally-raised Nubian goats and raw milk. The farm operates under North Carolina law, selling raw milk for animal consumption only. The farm also features a nature preserve, home to the largest native population of the rare Big Leaf Magnolia in North Carolina.

Practices

The farm's dairy goats are hand-milked and fed only organic feed, with no animal by-products, hormones, or antibiotics. Milk is immediately chilled in an ice water bath before being strained and bottled. The farm also raises Barred Rock and Jersey Giant chickens, guineas, and bees, emphasizing alternative and organic practices.

The Rest

Milk products are sold in glass quart containers with a jar deposit, and sales and visits are by appointment only. The farm hosts various events, classes, and talks to educate and foster a deep love of nature and conservation. The 240-acre nature preserve supports several microclimates and a variety of flora, fauna, and fungi.
