About the Farm
Background
John Lagier, a 4th generation farmer, has continued his family's legacy in San Joaquin County, California. The farm's origins trace back to his great grandfather who dry farmed wheat and barley and raised mules. The subsequent generations expanded the farm to include cattle ranching, almond orchards, vineyards, and row crops. John began farming grapes and almonds in 1979 and transitioned the farm to organic practices by 1992, achieving 100% organic status by 1996. The farm now grows a variety of produce including cherries, blackberries, boysenberries, citrus, almonds, Bronx table grapes, and paw paws.
Practices
The farm transitioned to organic farming practices starting in 1992 and achieved full organic status by 1996. In 2007, they introduced weeder geese in their cherry orchard, raising 250 Toulouse geese annually. These geese help manage weeds naturally, reducing the need for chemical interventions.
The Rest
In 2000, the farm established a commercial kitchen to package and sell their produce directly to consumers. They offer farm-crafted almond snacks, almond butters, and fruit spreads. Additionally, the farm sells fresh geese during the Christmas season.
