About the Farm
Background
Serving the Orlando area, including Orange, Seminole, Volusia, and Brevard counties, the farm is known for its commitment to responsible and sustainable farming practices. They support the local food movement and emphasize the importance of farmers being connected to their customers.
Practices
The farm believes cows should graze in pastures rather than feed bunks in buildings. They avoid using hormones, pesticides, conventional fertilizers, or other unnecessary chemicals on their cattle or land. Antibiotics are only used in life-threatening situations. The farm grows much of its feed locally and supplements with non-GMO alfalfa, Florida citrus pulp and pellets, and sprouted barley when necessary. Free choice salt, trace minerals, and Florida-grown sugar cane molasses are provided to ensure the cows receive the necessary nutrients.
The Rest
The farm prides itself on superior animal welfare and maintains a grass-based diet for their heritage-sized Jersey cows. They do not believe in shipping organic grain globally due to the increased carbon footprint and instead source feed responsibly.
